Geomembranes & Environmental Protection
- A polyvinyl chloride PVC Membrane is an excellent choice for lining the interior finish of any damaged or leaking swimming pool including concrete, steel, aluminum, fiberglass or vinyl pools.
- They can be made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), or polypropylene and are fused or welded at the seams.
- As they require no formwork or drying time, their installation process is quicker and easier compared to other construction methods.
- While asphalt shingles can technically be installed on a roof pitch as low as 2/12, and the building code allows it, it’s a good idea to go with a single-ply system on a roof pitch under 3-in-12.
- These real-world examples showcase the significant advantages of adopting this technology in aquaculture.
Vinyl Liner
- Non-embossed liners are flat and uniformly thick, giving them less cushion under foot.
- In this article, we take a look at how PVC liners improve safety by demonstrating their advantages over other types of liners.
- This allows them to be fitted easily to any surface you`d like to waterproof.
- Unroll liner panels according to the layout design with proper overlaps for seaming.
This introduction to the characteristics of PVC materials will let you know that PVC is a material produced after the addition and polymerization of vinyl chloride. PVC waterproofing membranes has been used in construction projects for more than 50 years, and its use range and uses are very wide. The durability of PVC waterproofing membranes basically exceeds 20 years. Although there are many other materials that claim to be more durable, in fact, in foreign construction engineering examples, PVC waterproofing membranes have a service life of more than 30 to 40 years. Yes, so its durability is proven. In terms of construction, due to the use of heat welding to connect the seams, the coils can be completely sealed. Compared with other self-adhesive waterproofing coils, they can resist harsh weather, which is often faced with typhoons. For all kinds of waste storage applications, HDPE geomembrane liners provide assurance of environmental protection for decades to come.
PVC LINER
Water Chemistry
A protective liner in a corrosion-resistant material like HDPE or PVDF (like Teflon) will shield the concrete from these corrosive, damaging substances. These pool liners are super resistant to punctures, fading and overall material degradation. Renolit PVC membranes include an exclusive protective coating that resists fading caused by ultraviolet sun rays and reduces the chance of scratches that other membranes don’t have.
Pool Design
If you plan on swimming at night, lights in and around the pool will need to be installed. There’s plenty of models you can choose from, and putting them on timers helps you set them and forget them. Additionally, some lighting systems allow for programmed light shows to add a visual feast for the eyes. Air between the wall panels and liner is removed, giving an airtight quality to the liner once the pool is filled with water.

Durability – Properly installed, HDPE liners maintain reliable containment for decades exposed to UV and water. HDPE offers far greater chemical resistance compared to clay that can be degraded by acidic or alkaline liquids. Samples of the liner material should be tested at a certified lab to confirm they meet specification properties like tensile strength, tear resistance, and puncture resistance per relevant ASTM tests.
Customer service & maintenance
Whether you’re involved in construction, environmental protection, or aquaculture, PVC liner offers a best solution to meet your specific needs. A geomembrane liner is essential for waste containment, water storage, and environmental protection. Among all types, HDPE geomembrane liners are the most durable and widely used due to their high chemical resistance, UV protection, and long lifespan. Around chemical and fuel storage tanks, HDPE containment liners provide secondary containment in the event of a leak. HDPE geomembranes are used in a diverse array of applications where durable containment and protection are needed. PVC liners play a critical role in environmental protection, including lining landfills and waste containment. This is common way of PVC liner, using the most common PVC mateiral, thickness from 0.4mm to 2.0mm. The vinyl liner needs to be replaced every 5–9 years, and this costs about $4,000–$4,500 including the labor and materials. PVC membrane liners are the most widely used of all polymeric membranes for waste impoundments. They show good chemical resistance to many inorganic chemicals; however, the inclusion of organic solvents may limit their applicability (consult manufacturer for specific applications). Special “Oil Resistant” (PVC-OR) grades of PVC are also available that possess high resistance to oil and other organic hydrocarbon attack. For example, the material can be fabricated in large panels which are easy to seam together while out in the field. That said, a PVC roof system with insulation and cover board will probably cost you anywhere from $10 to $18 per square foot. Have a look at my article about current PVC roofing costs for a more detailed explanation. These heat welded seam areas typically have more tensile strength than the regular membrane itself.
Applications and Benefits of PVC Geomembrane Liners
For more demanding applications, the Powered Multi-Roll Station, featuring an automatic cut-off system, offers enhanced efficiency and precision. These advanced systems not only improve the quality of the finished product but also significantly reduce the time and effort required in the laminating process. Geomembrane linings are vital components in modern engineering and environmental protection, offering reliable and effective solutions for containment and barrier needs across various industries. All Touch and Vogue 80™ mil membranes are a higher grade material that is covered by 6 layers of protective acrylic coating and come with a 50% longer manufacturers material warranty. The options include the Renolit 2000 Series in our standard and relief finishes, and the Luxurious Renolit 80 mil Touch and Vogue Series both with relief. The PVC 60, luxurious 70 and 80 mil thickness Touch™ membrane linings are custom cut and dialectically heat welded on site-to ensure the coating is completely water tight, attractive and long lasting. In stainless steel pool construction , as they are a flexible material they withstand ground movements, and this reduces the likelihood of fissures or cracks and thus extends the pool’s useful life. It is composed of four layers with different and complementary formulations, introducing reinforcing and perfectly centred polyester mesh between the second and third layers. Together, these QA/QC tests confirm all seams are leak-free with no weaknesses or discontinuities before an HDPE liner system is accepted for containment service. Ease of Installation – HDPE liners come in long, wide rolls that can rapidly unfurl along canal alignments with fewer field seams compared to rigid materials. Impermeability – The extremely low permeability of HDPE liners minimizes water loss through seepage into surrounding soil.
